Not always the case I bought a Range Rover for 15k backed by warranty and AA approved garage and inspection and no advisory MOT 2 days after delivery noticed faults took to garage quoted circa £8k to fix variety of issues / garage not interested wouldn’t return calls / letters sent under consumer rights no reply this went on over a month then complained to AA etc they also did nothing / carried on the legal process garage wouldn’t communicate / my solicitor advised that with costs for court etc no guarantee of getting money back as likely to not own assets on forcourt /stock etc after bit more reserch the mot centre unit next door to dealer owned by brother of dealer which was reported for dodgy MOT given some issues should have been noted leaking shocks etc etc in the end cut my losses not worth the hassle traded the car and made dealer aware of faults

An mot is only valid on the day the test is done. So many mot testers, add advisory to help the owner keep the vehicle in a good condition for the road. But a lot will give it a fail on the same advisories to get extra work. Those are normally the ones that give the industry a bad name.

why needle the discs then put new ones on , your work method is upside down .40 Years in the trade , the Tester knows more than you , if its unsafe its unsafe , IF you think its wrong you should contact the Ministry . simple as that .but they might find more things lol

I work in car sales we do a click and collect system. We get this all the time I personally would not do this you want the car come and get it since Covid some customers have become totally unreasonable and some don’t even turn up to collect cars they just disappear of the face of the earth .Totally unacceptable but the motor trader is always at fault which is wrong well done for bring this to people’s attention wish we would stop click and collect

Pick any mass selling car on the market and you will find enough people to have a negative view about it. They breakdown, there’s parts that will wear down and need replacing , besides the tyres and wipers. That’s why the car manufacturers look to improve their models and why the public buy so many,. Once you get three , four owners you can bet that it’s missed services and been treated as an a2b tool with little thought about maintenance. Go to any auction centre and take your pick Even classic cars need TLC , just be prepared to pay.

Re the bank transfer. I bought a hard to source vehicle last year and travelled from Scotland down to mid England. Did two bank transfers,( as requested by the seller). The first went through ok, the second didn’t. As it was the weekend I phoned the bank to be told it wouldnt be sorted until the fraud opening hours,( ie Monday morning). Had to travel back to Scotland and back down on the Monday. Took hours to sort out over the phone when I got to the sellers premises. Total nightmare.

For some balance; Sadly with the amount of online fraud and banks having to reimburse customers where this is the case, this is going to be a longer term problem until technology advancements are made.

Doesn't giving a refund and taking the car back mean that there will be one more owner registered on the V5? Won't this devalue the car especially if going from "one lady owner" to 2 owners? Seems very unfair.

I bought a car in January and needed to pay the dealer £7000. put card in, obviously declined, so rang the bank. I was on the phone for 40 minutes giving my life story. Security is nice obviously, but after security checks taking nearly 40 minutes then the money didn't get to the dealer for another 3 hrs. Instead of getting home in daylight it was pitch dark. Trouble is dealers don't seem to want cash nowadays

A few years back, after never having enough disposable cash, I decided it was time to buy myself a really posh guitar to use in my band. £7,000 spent and everything was tickety-boo.. I took it out for it's first gig and it lived up to my expectations and some. During the break, I popped it on the stand and went to get a pint.. I turned around to see the venue owner moving the guitar (still on it's stand), nearly dropping it and leaving it balanced on an uneven surface .. I was horrified even though there was luckily no damage done. I never took the instrument out of my house again..

I had a mk3 mr2 "track day" car that was a damn money pit. You have to upgrade everything or it'll just keep breaking. I thought a turbo, brakes and cross bracing the chassis and I'd be good to go and i was for about 2 laps then the drive shafts shat themselves. Long story short I spent about 25k on a 5k car that ended up on the scrapheap.

We need the bank of Dave and everyone leave the big banks and see how they would change their tune . They think they hold the power , time for us to tell them to do one !

CRV. I had similar with my Toyota Land Cruiser. Scared the heck out of me thinking I’d have to have a new gearbox or torque. After recommended, I had a gearbox flush, and put 2 tubes of Lubeguard Dr Tranny Instant Shudder Fix. Absolute smooth as silk now. It usually lasts 30,000 miles but for the price of £10-15 per tube, another application, compared to a gearbox, No brainier.

He should have told the bank he wants to close the account and wants all the money in cash! That's what my mother did when she had problems with the bank she was with, they had to order over £70,000 to be delivered to the bank for her to collect a few hours later. Similar things used to happen when people got benefits in a payment book every bank holiday they used to stamp two weeks payments slips whether you wanted it or not so when they did that to the ex she let the money build up for 12 weeks then went to get the lot, the post office had to close for payments of benefit until they got over £1,300 delivered.

When I have made large payments, I have informed the bank a couple of days before that I was intending to withdraw a large amount very shortly. Then I had no trouble.

Daughter had a bank issue (TSB). Went to the local branch, they say it can take longer for them to contact customer service than for a customer at home. After 20 minutes they said can we stay by the phone. We were there well over 3 hours before we had to give up because she had work. Stupid security questions, which branch did you open your account. It was done online not in a branch. But that was wrong it was opened at a branch some 40 miles away to a place she had never been to. Returning to her local bank and they said can you goto the local branch and we said we are in the local branch and have been for almost 2 hours AGAIN on top of the 3 hours yesterday. Had a similar issue with the Halifax many years ago, went to pay some money in and they said I have to use the machine because it's an online only account. The account I opened in this branch with the sort code and account number from this branch opened before the internet is an online only account.. HOW??? Just trying to get everyone to use the machines which were patchy at best back then, I started adding loose change to the deposits because the machine would not handle that at the time. Banking is so much easier these days, go to the supermarket and buy some new pillow cases, stuff money into them and place on the bed.

The easy way for your stupid customer to del with this, go to the bank and get a bankers draft off them made out to you. No difficult at all. Or really piss then off by demanding the money in cash.

I've been with a building society for years & years now, a well known one. Service is so much superior to banks. I'd never go back to a bank.

I had a 2009 Skoda Octavia fail on emissions. It was well within the governments limit but out of Skodas. All I had to do was remove a sticker so the tester could not see it and the car passed without any problems.

Reminds me of when I had to present myself at a bank branch in order to be able to transfer money into a savings account in another institution; passed all the security checks in branch (including a check on the app in front of the adviser) only to then get a call from fraud prevention WHILST I WAS STILL IN THE BRANCH. Funds were only released when I jumped through those hoops.

If the parts hes advised for corrosion ir damage have just been cleaned up and painted and dont show any signs of damage or corrosion and arent plastered in underseal , Go back to the mot station , pull the tester up and have him manually input when it passes that the previous advisories are totally false and make it perfectly clear you WILL report it to the dvsa/dot. If the parts were clean and tidy and painred at the time of the test , these should NOT have been advised , complete jobsworth of a tester like this is what gets mot testers a bad name. Absolutely unjustified. Pop in , speak to the tester and ask for a VT17 ...his arse will colapse.

what about using a bank cheque issued at his branch

Could the customer have got a bankers draft made out to you.that is of course if they still do drafts. Portugal where I live will issue bankers drafts for paying for Houses as it is 100 percent as good as cash and don't rely on solicitors doing bank transfers which are open to abuse.
